CM Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the distribution of free Solar PV Panels

Last Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the distribution of free solar PV panels for households across the province. The solar panels will be distributed across the whole province starting from coming Independence Day, August 14th.

Households consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month will receive these solar panels completely for free. Consumers using between 200 to 500 units of electricity per month will get these solar panels at only 10% of the actual cost. The government of Punjab will pay the remaining 90% via this subsidized scheme.

This payment will be 100% interest-free for five years. The Bank of Punjab will handle the whole scheme of solar PV panels distribution.
This distribution scheme will be handled through the Bank of Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif added that the initiative aims to reduce the consumer’s electricity bills by 40%. She also added that the government of Punjab aims to mitigate the destructive effects of the past and ensure that the public will not face such issues in the future.
